Live Life...Choose Joy!

It was difficult to know that I needed to start all over again and repeat the six chemo treatments. But it is what I must do. It was heartbreaking when my beautiful curls started falling out within 14 days of my first chemo treatment. That was beyond my control and I know it will grow back again at the end of this year.

Since my last post I have had two more treatments. I am half done...three treatments down and three to go. The good thing about having the same drugs is there are no real surprises. I had documented the reactions of my body every step of the way. I don't worry about what will happen next. I already know. And I know I can do it again.

At my appointment last week I received good news in learning that my chemo is working. The CA-125 tumor marker blood test shows numbers nearing normal. It is still in the high range, but it has changed direction and is heading down instead of up. These next chemo treatments should continue to do their job and get me back into the normal range.

I have also started my naturopathic treatment of Vitamin C. This is a megadose of ascorbic acid that is dripped into my port. The difference is I am not afraid. I know it is something that will not harm me but only help my body to fight. It does have the ability to kill cancer cells and it will strengthen my immune system to help me through the chemo. I had planned on using it as a preventative measure, but then realized it would be a good idea to give my body every bit of strength I can find. The one treatment I had left me feeling stronger and better. My second one will be tomorrow. I am having a difficult sit down day today, it being Day Five, the usual day of weakness. So this will be a good test to see what a difference it will make in helping my body to bounce back. There are other natural alternatives and I am starting with the Vitamin C. My goal is to find these alternatives to use as a preventative measure after my chemo.

My family and friends are helping me to go through this second round. I am trying to live life more fully this time. Saying yes to opportunities to be around people. Still cautious and staying out of public places, but instead pulling up some chairs outside when someone is asking about coming for a visit. My summer is certainly not going like I thought it would be going. I am trying desperately to find the good and the blessing in all this. I have a new strength. I have already won the battle. God is so good to me. I have hope and I believe!
