GOOD and NOT GOOD

August 18, 2024  •  2 Comments

Tomorrow it will be nine weeks since my surgery. I am so thankful this is behind me. Last Monday I said to Reed that it was the best I have felt in at least a year. That is GOOD. People assume the chemo is kicking my butt, but in all reality, the recovery from the surgery was a big part of my battle. I challenge you to make a movement up, down or sideways without using your abdominal muscles. So now that I am stronger, I will be much better able to fight against the chemo. The appointments come around every 21 days. Two down and four to go. This next one is coming on Friday, August 23 so please continue to keep me in your prayers. Day One is the day of the infusion. I have felt ok until Day Four, Five and Six. Those days were days of weakness and fatigue. Day Seven to Day Fourteen my immune system bottoms out so those are days when I need to stay away from people and especially sick people. There are things happening inside my body that I cannot see or feel. I actually have felt quite good. Then Day Fifteen to Twenty-one I have felt quite normal and good also. We shall see what happens this next time around.

They said it was possible for my hair to fall out in two to three weeks after treatment. I was happy that did not happen after my first treatment but this time around it did happen. As much as I thought I was prepared for this to happen it was definitely NOT GOOD. It began to just fall out in big amounts one evening and so we went outside and Reed gently buzzed off my hair with his clippers. And I had to be ok with it, because it was falling out and there was not one single thing I could do about it. I pray for grace.

All in all, I feel normal the majority of the time so that is GOOD. I have you, my people, thinking of me and praying for me and supporting me. That is GOOD. And I am never alone. God continues to send people to encourage me and help me along my way. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Love you all.

There is a stone house that is located along the Enchanted Highway, just north of the Thirty Mile Creek. It's right north of the Fishermen's Dream site. The Lampl family, relatives of the Dobitz family, built this in the beginning of the 1900's. Can you imagine gathering each one of these large and small rocks from the hills and then stacking them onto a wall to make a house that would be your home and protect your family from the North Dakota winter? We have it so GOOD, don't we?
