Praise

Another wonderful healing day. Slept the longest I have slept for weeks. Moving better. Hungry. Walked outside. Calm morning to take photos of beautiful flowers. Sunshine in the morning. Thunderstorm in the afternoon. Puddles. The smell of the heavens after it rains. All the good things.

A few weeks ago, my amazing niece, Michaela sent a message about music. She listed some specific songs that gave her a memory of when she was younger and would spend time at our house. There were some songs that when she heard them, she thought of me. I've been thinking about that and how music has been so important to me my whole life. I remember what music was playing during all the important times in my life. Music has been playing in the background my entire life.

I have listened to different kinds of music at different times in my life. Soft rock, hard rock, country and Christian. It was because of Michaela that I started listening to Christian music. She has the most beautiful voice and had joined a band in Dickinson that played those types of songs. It was June of 1999 and I went to a concert they held. My sweet mother-in-law, Freda Dobitz, was in Hettinger hospital that Sunday evening, her family around her for her last days on earth. And there I was in Dickinson, hearing these songs of praise. A strong memory. The words of the songs were like prayers and they comforted me during that difficult time. After that I jumped into listening to praise and worship music. The songs I remember are You Move Me, by Susan Ashton; On My Knees by Jaci Velasquez; Jesus Freak by DC Talk.

Now back to the present. For weeks my people have been sending videos for me to watch or podcasts to check out. I love that. I watch them. I have been getting poems and little inspirational sayings. And Bible quotes. So many good quotes. They all help me. Now I have been getting music to listen too.

When I had my new hip, my theme song was the theme from Rocky. I was needing one in Billings really bad and couldn't think of what it should be. Michaela's message included the song by Michael W. Smith called Surrounded (Fight My Battles). I pulled it up on my phone and listened to it and sure enough, that was my song alright. As the PT folks were working with me teaching me how to use my legs, to bend forward to stand up without using my stomach muscles I would hear the song in my head, "This is how I fight my battles."  "This is how I fight my battles."  "It may look like I'm surrounded, but I'm surrounded by You." It was there as I would walk to the bathroom and with me going down the halls as I got stronger. So, thank you Michaela for that one.

Yesterday, I got a few songs sent to me by my girls. "Hey mom listen to these songs." Funny Man by Zach Bryan and Find Your People by Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors.

Today my dear cousin, Shera and I discussed our favorite Christian groups and she gave me some new ones I will check out. She sent the song Waymaker by Leeland and Praise by Brandon Lake, Chris Brown, Chandler Moore. I'll be listening more to these.

So, on the previous site before my surgery, we were asking for jokes. And the jokes were lost as that site went down and never came back up. So now I am asking for songs or artists or groups that you enjoy and you think I might need to hear. God has been having my people send the right words and prayers and sayings and Bible quotes. So, I have no doubt that there is some music I should hear. Honestly, I am open to everything. Praise is what I am thinking but it can be a happy song from anyone. Well not disco and not rap but other than that I would appreciate some suggestions for tunes. Words and music will help me along on my journey.

P.S. I did figure out how to enable the comment part so go for it. Unless you want to send a message another way that is fine too.

You have passed your love of music to me as well. It is amazing how it can alter your mood and change your perspective. Here are a couple I have been listening to.

Highlands - Hillsong united
Goodness of God - bethel music
What your afraid of - wilder woods
Heaven sent - the Steeldrivers
