Healing

July 03, 2024  •  2 Comments

This has been a week of post op appointments. A virtual visit allowed me to spend time with my surgeon, Dr. Hokenstad in Billings. What wonderful technology! She explained what will happen next in my journey. She will still be included in my treatment plan by monitoring my progress and working with Dr. Mcgee at the Bismarck Cancer Center. I will still follow up with Dr. Hokenstad in three months with another virtual appointment.

Today we went to the Sanford Clinic in Dickinson, to have Dr. Brown examine my incision. That is healing well. I am so thankful she was able to help get my treatment started and she was a part of the reason we looked toward Billings for a specialist. She will still be available to continue to check how my body is healing from the surgery in the coming month. If all goes well, this should save us from having to make a trip to Billings.

I am thankful for Dr. Hokenstad and Dr. Brown and their part in my journey. Both appointments went well and I am continuing to get stronger each day. My job is to do everything I can do to help my body heal. It is my only focus each day. I enjoy our beautiful flowers and watch the garden grow and the sunshine and fresh air are good for my soul. I am at peace.

Dr. Hokenstad said, "Every bit of cancer that could be seen or felt was removed, so I expect that you have no cancer in your body. We follow up with the chemo to make sure." Next Friday, July 12, Dr. Mcgee will begin my chemo at the Bismarck Cancer Center.

I’m glad you got good news from at your virtual visit. There is no place like home. You should get lots of rest and healing strength there. We continue to get rains so everything is green and beautiful. We could stand getting some sunshine. I would like some 80° weather for a while.
My sister, Jennifer, has joined us at the cabin for the holiday. We played dominoes yesterday with some friends. Last night we enjoyed the golf cart parade at the resort. It was cool enough to wear a jacket.
Keep moving around and enjoying the flowers. You will get stronger every day.

Those flowers in your garden have endured some wild storms this year. Despite the rough weather, it's the rain from those storms that has made them grow so beautifully and vibrantly. They've emerged stronger and more beautiful because of it.
